Company Size: 40
Industry: Human Resources
Location(s): Singapore and UAE
Headquarters: Singapore
Founded: 2018
The hrtech team works remotely from Singapore and India. They recently ventured into the Middle-Eastern market by hiring their first employee in Dubai. All hiring processes would continue to be remote.
The Hiring Process
They sourced candidates from LinkedIn job posts and managed employee onboarding with Keka. On LinkedIn, a few recruiters from their team advertised job vacancies. After manually reviewing every application, they would send the resumes of qualified applicants to the appropriate parties so that interviews could be held. The case studies submitted by the candidates were examined by many members of the hrtech team. The hiring procedure took a long time and was entirely manual. This led to the discovery of the missing link in their hiring stack: an assessment tool.
The Biggest Challenges faced
- Sorting through LinkedIn applications: Humanly impossible to read hundreds of CVs for a 4 people hiring team.
- Remote Hiring: Finding skilled candidates suitable for remote work environments.
- Multi-skilled Candidates: Identifying candidates who can thrive in a fast-paced startup with role-specific skills, adaptability and multitasking abilities.
- Lengthy Hiring Process: Reducing time-to-hire with multiple rounds of interviews across various skill sets.
Discovering and Implementing Equip
"We were actively searching for an assessment solution to streamline our process. We discovered Equip through our HR Tech marketplace listing," shares Sanika, the Head of Operations at hrtech.
She collaborated with the HR Lead to implement Equip. Collaboration on Equip is easy because users can invite their colleagues to join a team on Equip using a single invitation link. After setting up the tests, everyone involved found it simple to filter applicants according to the findings for a variety of tests, including ones that tested communication, business acumen, Excel competence, and other role-specific abilities.
The New & Improved Hiring Process using Equip
The recruiters shared the assessment link with the applicants to attempt it async over the next 4 business days after applying for the job.
They used these assessments to hire Customer Success Associate, Management Trainee, and HR Business Partner.
So what changed for them after switching from a manual process to automating screening with an assessment tool?
- Ease of Use: The administration of assessments was made simpler by an intuitive platform.
- Cost-Effectiveness: Despite Equip's numerous useful features, the cost of assessing every candidate was as low as $1.
- Candidate Quality: Early identification of top-tier applicants was possible by skill tests.
- Interview Efficiency: Pre-screening raised the quality of applicants who proceed to the interview phase thus engaging only with eligible candidates and drastically cut down the time-to-hire.
Q&A: Unfiltered product feedback
Sanika shared the insider scoop on her experience using Equip.
What is the one benefit you get from using Equip, that you think is irreplaceable?
The platform is so simple to use that I could get started without an onboarding tutorial. The CEO asked me to take over the entire hiring after we created an Equip account. I could find everything I needed on my own! The candidates' LinkedIn profiles were hyperlinked to their results on the dashboard and the test scores were available right there too. Given my experience of interacting with a lot of HR Tech tools, I'd say the UX was delightful with all the features at my fingertips.
How long did it take you to start using Equip after you discovered it?
We were operational with Equip within a week.
What is your favourite feature on Equip?
I'd say it is Video Response because it cuts down time spent scheduling at least one round of live interviews. It is useful for assessing communication abilities and gives information about how prepared a candidate is.
Would you recommend recruiters to use Equip? Why?
Yes! Equip's user-friendliness and cost-effectiveness make it a powerful tool for recruiters. After using Equip's assessments, our candidate drop-off rate reduced and we were able to bifurcate the high-intent candidates for all roles.
The Results
- Saved 100% of the time and effort spent on reading CVs by using skill assessments instead.
